General

Who are you?

We are Kendaka, and we are passionate about two ‘things’: women and waste reuse! Female artisans in our factory in Badr City create functional and trendy products and give a second life to waste materials. That’s what upcycling is about. We develop craftwomenship, enhance creativity and innovation and encourage entrepreneurship among women. We combine the passion for empowering women and the drive to tackle the harmful environmental impact of waste in the country to come up with innovative upcycled products.

What is the difference between recycling and upcycling?

Recycling: Old materials get broken down and processed to be reused
Upcycling: Through creativity and individuality, old materials get upgraded and turned into new products of higher value, without destruction of the original material.

What are the materials that you accept?

We are upcycling:
Glass, bottles, jars any kind of glass really.
Textile leftovers Plastic bags, preferably the printed and colorful ones

Can we feature your products in our store?

If you are ready to promote our socially and environmentally sound concept and feature our high quality products in your store , you are most welcome.
Wholesale pricing and timelines can be made available upon request
or click on the link to the contact page and send us your request Contact us

Can I choose my own colors and sizes?

As all our products are upcycled, we depend on the available colors and sizes of glass in the market, which mainly are white, green, green-olive, and brown. Our upcycled glassware volume capacity ranges from 40 ml to 750 ml.

Customization applies to big orders (quantity of more than 50 pieces). We are happy to help you design your unique product and make it a strong statement for a fair creative economy in Egypt.

Do I need to have an account with you to place an order?

No, but it makes everything easier. Your account information, addresses, and email preferences are in one place. These returns, for example, are processed much faster. (for example, you could process a recovery much quicker.) We never pass on or sell any of your account details.

How do I unsubscribe from your mailing list?

At the bottom of our blog emails, there is always an “Unsubscribe” link. If you click on it – what we of course do not hope 🙂 – we will stop sending you mails.

Can we visit your workshop?

Collecting Glass

Can I donate my glass (jars, bottles...) to you?

Yes please, we love to accept donations from environmentally conscious people, please fill in this form and we get in touch with you
https://kendaka.co/collecting-form/

How do you collect your materials (glass, textile scrap, plastic bags)?
  1. We have different methods:
    – Some of our outlets offered to act as collection points, like Om el Dounia in Tahrir
Square (3, Talaat Harb Street, first floor). Btw: a great shop for Egyptian
      handicrafts!
    – Some of our members offer their private homes as collection points. Every now and
then we are able to make rounds to collect from your doorstep.
    –  We also welcome anyone who wants to cooperate and to support this initiative.

PLEASE bare with us, out of environmental and economic reasons, we cannot do individual collection for small amounts of materials. When we do collection rounds we try to reduce our footprint collecting the maximum amount of glass we can carry. Thank you for your understanding!

Do you offer anything in return of the glass we donate?

We are working on a loyalty program to offer extra discounts and gift cards to our donors, because we really appreciate cooperation and engagement for a cleaner environment. Please do not forget to add your mail to the form, in order to be included in our program, that is about to be launched.

Where are your collecting points?
  1. – Oum El Dounia Gallery at Tahrir Square  https://goo.gl/maps/VJ2z4oP4GS1gNzRL6
    – Addresses of private residents in New Cairo  El Rehab and El Obour.
